This food event, in particular, is very dear to my heart. No Kid Hungry is a national campaign ran by Share Our Strength, a nonprofit working to solve problems of hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world to end child hunger. In 2018, D.C.’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry raised enough to connect hungry kids in need with up to 2.5 million healthy meals. A few local beneficiaries include Capital Area Food Bank, DC Hunger Solutions, and Mary’s Center.
For one night, Washington DC’s culinary community come together to raise funds to ensure all children in America have access to the healthy food they need, every day. Hosted at the National Building Museum, metropolitan residents are invited to purchase a ticket to Taste of the Nation event to help the organization meet their fundraising goal for hungry kids in need. Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry tickets start at $125; 100% of the proceeds are used to support the campaign to end childhood hunger in America. In addition, a portion of the ticket sales is tax deductible for all ticket holders.
Sample creations from area’s most celebrated restaurants, featuring gourmet cuisine and libations crafted by the city’s hottest chefs, sommeliers and mixologists are there to provide all-night sample tastings. This event is by far one of my top 3 food events to attend annually. Check out the below video of my fun at the event!
